Veterans
Our service area is the Southern California Counties of San Diego, Imperial, and Riverside. If you live outside these counties, please visit the Honor Flight Network (HFN) and go to the “find a hub” tab to find the hub closest to you. You can click on this link to get to the HFN: https://www.honorflight.org/
If you are a Veteran who served at any time between 1941-1975, or are a Veteran from any era, with a terminal illness, and would like to experience an Honor Flight, please complete the application below. *Please note that there is no requirement to have served in combat.
Due to generous donors, there is NO cost to Veteran to go on his/her Honor Flight. Priority is given to WWII and Korean War Veterans, and Veterans from any era with terminal illnesses (be sure to notate your terminal condition on your application). **Please note that due to the influx of Vietnam Veteran applications, it may be considerable time (possibly years) until you are called for a flight. We take 90-100 veterans on two flights/year (pending funding).
As you submit your application, please double check your address entry (extra/missing numbers, Street vice Ave, do not add any notes in the address block, etc…). Any fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory fields and your application will not be received if those fields are not completed. You will receive a confirmation email when you hit “submit” at the end of the application and that’s how you know we received your application. If you didn’t get a confirmation email or are unsure, you can call us at (800)655-6997 or email us at info@honorflightsandiego.org to check on it.
Guardians
Apply to volunteer as an Honor Flight Guardian on an upcoming trip. Guardian FAQ’s provide information on duties and responsibilities. The Guardian position is a working position (physically assisting veterans, loading and pushing wheelchairs, assisting with luggage, etc.). Please be certain you are physically able to serve as a Guardian before applying.
**Please note there is a waiting list for non-family guardians to be called for a flight. Due to the dynamics of pairing veterans and guardians, and last minute cancellations, you may receive a call early in the planning process, or weeks/days in advance of a flight.
In accordance with Honor Flight policy – a spouse/significant other is NOT PERMITTED to serve as the veteran’s Guardian. The fee to be a Guardian is $950 and includes round-trip charter airfare, two nights lodging, charter buses, all meals, t-shirt, lanyard, etc… The guardian fee will be due when you have been contacted by a team leader for the upcoming trip, please do not pay in advance.
You will receive a confirmation email when you hit “submit” at the end of the application and that’s how you know we received your application. If you didn’t get a confirmation email or are unsure, you can call us at (800)655-6997 or email us at info@honorflightsandiego.org to check on it.
